ESN Membership
How Do I Join ESN? It's Easy!
1. REGISTER ONLINE
Create a kide.app account with your Finnish university email and pay the membership fee on KideApp.
2. PICK UP AND ACTIVATE
Visit our Office Hours to pick up your physical ESNcard. You will need to bring a passport-sized photo of yourself! Then, activate on ESNcard.org.
3. ATTEND EVENTS
Browse the events on Kide, check out our calendar, and join our group chat and socials to be notified about events and ticket releases!
1. Digital Membership
ESN Uni Helsinki Online Membership
You will become a member of the association by purchasing the ESN Uni Helsinki membership card online at Kide.app. With the membership you will join the international ESN community in Helsinki and get free and discounted tickets to our events, trips, and parties!
The cost of the ESNcard and membership of ESN Uni Helsinki is 12€. Only the ESN Uni Helsinki membership is valid for ESN Uni Helsinki discounted or free events. ESNcards and membership of other sections are not valid for our events and the same discounts as our own members. This is because we use your membership fee to subsidize the events.
Feel free to check out our events to see what you can join! Students, trainees, and interns of any other university or applied sciences university are welcome to get our membership (Aalto, Haaga-Helia, Laurea, Metropolia, Hanken, etc.)
Remember to register your account on Kide.app with your Finnish university email! Other emails used may need up to 10 business days to be activated, which means you won't be able to register for events right away.
We are switching our memberships to KideApp!
To become a member, simply buy your ESNcard through KideApp! You can even become a member of ESN Uni Helsinki as soon as you have your Finnish university email address (@helsinki.fi, @aalto.fi, @myy.haaga-helia.fi @student.laurea.fi, @arcada.fi, etc.), or a valid Finnish student card, or a valid Finnish student certificate.
Remember, that to become a member you have to belong to one of the following groups:
Local Finnish student
International undergraduate or postgraduate full degree students
Erasmus+ students
Erasmus+ trainees
International incoming students or trainees on a mobility programme other than Erasmus+
EVS participants
ESN buddies, volunteers, and alumni (either active on the Local, National or International Level).
Students will receive the ESNcard by joining ESN Uni Helsinki as volunteers
We strongly recommend that you create your KideApp account with your Finnish university email address! If you do, we can easily verify that you're a student in Helsinki. If you've signed up to KideApp using your personal email address, you'll have to verify your student or intern status. To do that, you can use the membership verification form or visit us during our Office Hours. Please keep in mind Kide accounts registered without your Finnish university email may result in delays in activating your membership.
Everyone who is a current member (2022-2023) and has purchased an ESNcard can convert their membership to KideApp!
Proceed to the KideApp and purchase the 'ESNcard Uni Helsinki (already purchased in person)' for 0€. We will manually check our registry to see if you are already a member and activate your membership on KideApp. We ask you to only contact us to verify your membership if it has been more than 7 days since you bought the membership on KideApp. This option will no longer be available starting June 2023, as we will complete the transition to Kide.app for all future memberships.
2. Physical ESNcard
What will I need to get the physical card?
Visit our office hours which will be announce in our group chat, socials, and will be on our calendar. A physical card is not neede for our regular events, but will be needed for discounts with our partners such as the trips with Timetravels.
A printed photo of you. Photo size approximately 2.7 cm x 3.7 cm
ID/passport
A document proving your mobility status (such as a Learning Agreement, Training Agreement, Acceptance Letter, etc.) if you didn't use a university email and didn't fill out the membership verification form
Do I have to activate my card on ESNcard.org?
No... but the ESNcard is the physical membership card of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). It gives you access to all the services offered by ESN and all our partners. The aim of the ESNcard - or ESN membership - is to support international students and trainees and give them access to affordable opportunities during their period abroad.
After collecting your ESNcard, register your membership by creating an account in ESNcard.org website. Save your ESNcard number to your profile settings to get access to all the discounts we offer internationally!
With the ESNcard, you will enjoy plenty of discounts - transports, housing, sport, food, bars, etc. - all over Europe. You will also have the opportunity to participate in hundreds of events with your ESN section and other sections around your destination country, and even beyond, for the period of your membership. Signup for events. Remember to sign up only if you are attending, as those who claim free ticket events and don't show up will have their membership deactivated immediately.
International Group Chat
We will be posting announcements here for those that don't use social media. You can also use this group to connect with others and to ask questions!
We will use this as the main channel of announcements, including event releases, giveaways and more. We will still post inside the Telegram group for those that don't use socials.
